“Why does one of my project managers consistently achieve outstanding results - while the others don’t?”
It’s been our experience that the answer hinges on the relationships-of-trust that exist among the senior executives. While on the surface this may appear deceptively straightforward, creating an environment in which turf is respected, but not protected, and where the open exchange of viewpoints is encouraged - and expected - is anything but simplistic.
I raise this subject here because I know you came here to download a paper on the Seven Secrets of Project Leadership, and what I want to do is show you how to apply the secrets.
You probably appreciate my being straightforward here if you find, like me, that it helps build trust.
So you have a choice: Skipping this section and going straight to the download request box, or you can take a moment to read through the rest of the page. I would prefer you to read-on because I have a very special offer - worth £ 300 - to make to you... and I want you to understand why I’m making it, and then on that basis you will feel happy to enter your phone number in the download box.
You see Project Leadership is a powerful thing if you learn how to do it right. Studies show that more and more our daily work is project work – and increasingly our personal evaluations are being based on the project results we deliver.
But at the same time the discipline of Project Management has been on a plateau of partial effectiveness for some time. It may interest you to know, for example, that the majority – by a wide margin - of IT projects fail, and this fact hasn’t changed in 20 years!
Project Leadership isn’t Project Management
Project management methodologies get more “refined” - and complex - but the methodology can only take you so far, because you hit a “wall” of how you communicate them to the team, and gain their acceptance as a process. And the worst of them take the fun out of project work by stipulating the production of reams and reams of documentation at every step.
Work breakdown structures and resource-based planning techniques, such as Gantts and PERTs, are useful, but improvements to them yield only minor returns, because nothing has changed in the art of estimating - and adjusting for the commitments of the team members outside of the project can never be done effectively.
You see, most of the tools of Project Management were developed for scopes of work that are well understood – they only work well when the project team isn’t covering much new ground – but so many projects these days are about pushing the boundaries of what has been done.
So Project Management is NECESSARY, but NOT SUFFICIENT. It is necessary to be competitive, but it is not sufficient to win. What is missing? Yes, it’s Project Leadership. I want to show you some examples to contrast the difference.

So you see it’s the emotional content that is the distinction – and the reason why hardly anyone “gets it”, is that this you can’t acquire these skills just by reading a book. And the results of project leadership?
- Setting your company aside from its competition because the results of its projects improve its position it in the industry, and the perceptions of its customers.
- Reaping the massive career rewards of being an effective project leader because YOU VISIBLY DELIVER OUTSTANDING RESULTS.
Now this sounds simple enough, doesn’t it? But it’s not – otherwise effective project leaders wouldn’t be so rare. You see, you’re expecting a change in behaviour from the people on your team.
My experience has been that most people are happy to “bounce along the bottom” - they perform only acceptably – as long as they are getting paid, and can cover their mortgage. They participate in projects because they have been presented to them as “development opportunities” – they have little emotional involvement in the project, or worse still they are actually (covertly) unwilling to participate…
So your job as the Project Leader is to elicit high quality project behaviours from the team members and build relationships-of-trust with the project stakeholders, AND WE WANT YOU TO LEARN HOW TO DO THIS WITH ELEGANCE AND INFLUENCE!
First, you can download the 7 Secrets of Project Leadership document and read it through. It’s a great start, but it is the tip of the iceberg. It tells you the main points about what to do, but it can’t hope
to tell you how to do it – that takes years of experience, study and access to excellent Project Leaders.
You see, there is a personal journey to make to achieve *unconscious* competence at Project Leadership. The journey is about internalising the art of being an authentic, consistent, congruent, influential communicator. It is a journey you can start now, and it will benefit every aspect of your life.
As a bonus, we will send you emails to follow-up on the document, to explain some of the finer points. We do this because it takes a little time for people to fully process the information
– even the very highest performers.
And here’s the offer that I referred to earlier: If you enter your phone number in the download box, we will give you a free 1 hour phone consultation with Senior Project Leadership Coaches to answer any questions you may have and provide you with a bit more coaching. We usually charge £ 300 for this coaching, but I have been able to get a dispensation by the board of directors to do this for FREE for a limited period.
**(I don’t know how long this will last because the board wasn’t exactly delighted with my suggestion – our coaches are very busy with paid work - so this offer may disappear at ANY TIME!)**
Why is the phone call important? Well I mentioned earlier that to learn Project Leadership properly you need access to excellent Project Leaders – and this is what you get on the call.
Our Senior Project Leadership Coaches have all “been there and done it”. They have decades of experience in project delivery, the highest levels of leadership coaching capability, working with companies like Pepsico, Chevron, Vodafone and Motorola, and they are versed in delivering the Beaufortes Project Leadership Workshops.
Well you probably have some questions by now, and it’s also time for you to make the decision:
